He grew up in a children’s home. But it was not a Christian one. In college, Joseph (name changed for privacy purposes) heard the gospel and was led to Christ by an MTW missionary. Now, Joseph works as a house parent for one of the Lighthouse children’s homes in Manila. He wakes the boys up in the morning, feeds them breakfast, gets them to school, and plays basketball and engages in meaningful conversation with them in down time. But Joseph has received little mentoring himself. Last month, during the staff training that I helped facilitate for the 15 Lighthouse staff members, Joseph radiated gratefulness and growth. Particularly, the messages on repentance and reconciliation spoke to him. Several times after the training, he quoted the model for godly repentance learned in the training:
1) There is a problem.
2) I am the problem.
3) God, I need Your help.

This model is now helping Joseph act with more grace and humility with the other staff and children.

These are some of the street boys who live at the children's home.
